New Container Miles Appeal
The project running at Hewell Grange Prison, Redditch, is now well underway. Prisoners, as part of their work experience training for release, are refurbishing some of Africa Equip’s donated equipment and materials ready for shipping to Swaziland.
The shipment will be made in a container and sent to the Christ Worshipper’s Choir, Africa Equip’s representatives in Swaziland, for redistribution to a number of groups throughout the country and in South Africa. We have launched an appeal to raise funds for the purchase of a container to hold all the equipment and materials and to fund transport to Swaziland. The total cost including the container, all packing costs, taxes, land transport in the UK, and South Africa, and shipping costs from London to Durban will be close to £10,000. The total journey over land and sea is not too far short of 10,000 miles. We are appealing for supporters to sponsor Nautical Miles at £1 per Mile, with a target of 10,000 miles.

Project wins Green Apple Environmental Award
The Prison and Africa equip were presented with a green apple award by The Green Organisation for our combined work on the container project.
The award was

▪ presented at the Palace of Westminster
▪ on Monday 14th November

News of the Christ Worshippers Choir
The boys football team competed in the Swaziland National Disabled Sports and came second in the blind and visually impaired competition.
Africa Equip funded an eye operation for Skhumbuso and Phetsile’s daughter, Fundiswa, that has much improved her vision. The choir have sent us photographs of the football team and Fundiswa.
The choir have recently completed a new CD including several songs in English that we should have available before Christmas
Gifts & donations
Special thanks to the staff at the National Blood Transfusion Service Birmingham for their further donation of £134 received in memory of their colleague Robbie Howorth.
Children’s knitwear and toys handmade by Margaret Pearce and Mrs. Alexander have been sent out to orphans in a very poor rural district of Swaziland.
